About Island Crafter
My Story
Woodworking has always been the kind of work that feels grounded and real. After 20 years in e-commerce, the industry changed and the fast-paced work stopped feeling meaningful. It felt like the right moment to shift into something that did not rely on trends or algorithms. I enjoyed my previous career, but wanted work with more meaning.
Woodworking filled that gap. It slows you down. Building hardwood pieces gives me that. It is hands on, concrete, and creative. There’s no pretending, no hiding mistakes, and no rushing it. You put in the time and the outcome shows it.
Working with wood forces focus, and gives you something real at the end.
This personal hobby turned into Island Crafter, and it’s the direction I plan to keep growing.

Building a Future for Local Makers
Island Crafter isn’t only about what I make today, it’s also about where this can go. Having worked in the digital world for many years, I’m aware of how fast business models change, and feel confident my experience can adapt with these changes.
I’m working toward creating a curated space for other Vancouver Island makers. Not a free-for-all marketplace, but a selective platform where high-quality, handcrafted goods can be listed without makers needing to handle the online side.
The idea is simple:
• I handle the product listing, customer experience, and shipping labels.
• Makers package and ship their own products.
• They store their inventory and are responsible for quality and accuracy.
• Only reliable, consistent makers stay on.
It’s a turnkey setup for the right people. The goal is to build a collection of genuinely well-made local products, not clutter the site with anything and everything.
Straightforward work, honest materials, and a growing community of Island creators.
That’s Island Crafter.
